About this event
For the past decade, soulful duo the War and Treaty—the husband-and-wife team of Michael and Tanya Trotter—has released music that has made it a beloved industry favorite, an awards-season darling, and a touring staple capable of performing on stages worldwide to widespread acclaim. Twelve years after its founding, the duo has redefined itself beyond its Academy of Country Music, Country Music Association, and Grammy nominations and outstripped its lauding by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry, and the Americana Music Association, which named it Duo/Group of the Year in 2022 and 2023. On 2026’s The Story of Michael and Tanya, a more vibrant energy now guides the duo, confidently shaping its own destiny. Featuring myriad hall of fame–caliber mentors and influential friends as relaxed collaborators, the record’s songs combine warmth and strength to form a rare genre bridge between classic country and Memphis soul. Michael and Tanya Trotter’s combined musical and emotional intelligence allows their new songs to gently but firmly address the complexities of the world, aligning the duo with an empathetic lineage that starts with Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack, and Donny Hathaway.
